This is Melbourne International Backpackers. Functional, and conveniently located in the city centre, but it's far too big, really. And I don't think it would win any prizes for architectural beauty....

I stayed at the International Backpackers hostel. It's been a few years since I stayed in a Youth Hostel or a Backpackers Hostel, so I was very disappointed that the atmosphere in this place was lacking. It wasn't just because I was older than most of the people there. there were just too many really, you never saw the same person twice!

Still, it was very convenient, with a tram stop outside, the very large Victoria Market just up the road and Melbourne Central station just down the road!

On the other hand, I was disappointed to see so many shops here that I can see at home, Starbucks, HMV, etc. And to boast of "The Biggest FCUK in Australia" really is taking the mick! Surely it should be French Connection Australia, or FCOz?
