The Twelve Apostles |
The 300 km long Great Ocean Road was built by otherwise out-of-work servicemen on their return from the Great War in 1918. The views are lovely, of course, but the wind from the Southern Ocean was very strong, and I'm sure, piercingly cold at other times. We stopped numerous times at interesting and scenic lookouts, and it was strangely reassuring that there was no sense of hurry. It took a while for me to get used to this more laid back lifestyle! The Twelve Apostles: a spectacular series of limestone stacks, fragments from an eroding, receding coastline. |
